Leandros A. Skaltsounis is Full Professor and director of the Department of Pharmacognosy and Natural Product Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, National &Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), currently elected also Dean of the Faculty. He leads the LNPC team of morethan 25 researchers, post doc and PhD students focusing on natural product-based lead discovery for various applications, in medicinal products, functional foods, cosmetics and agrochemicals. He is an author of 150 scientific publications, and inventor of 10 patents. He is awarded with 20 research grants of EU, GSRT (Greece) and other organizations. He was president of the organizing committee of the 7th International Joint Congress on Natural Products (the most important world event on bioactive natural products) which was organised by NKUA in Athens on ugust 2008.
